Dr. Hill brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role as the Wilmington Chamber’s VP of Talent Pipeline. Prior to this, he served as the Executive Director of the Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism. This role marked a second career for him after an illustrious 32-year tenure in public service, culminating in his retirement as the Pender County Schools Superintendent.
One of Dr. Hill's most significant contributions to the community is the development of the non-profit STEM East Network, a collaborative initiative between East Carolina University and NCEA that merges education and economic development for the region.
Throughout his career, Dr. Hill has earned numerous accolades, including being named the NC School Based Health Alliance Superintendent of the Year and serving as the U.S. Delegate for Education at an international science competition in Beijing. His dedication to education and innovation is evident through his involvement with the North Carolina representative team for the national STEM Funders Network and receiving the IASL international leadership award for his work in economic and community engagement.
Additionally, Dr. Hill has been recognized as a Who's Who Teacher, as nominated by his students. He's received a mission service award from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for his significant accomplishments on the east coast. His commitment to community engagement and valor also earned him the Chief's Distinguished Service award.
Dr. Hill's journey is rooted in faith, bolstered by the support of his wife of 30 years, Michelle, and the motivation provided by his three daughters – Hannah, Madison, and Stevie-Layke. Furthermore, the introduction of his first grandchild, Raleigh, and the imminent arrival of a second, Haven, have ignited new wellsprings of inspiration.
