Economic Summit: Talent Migration and Community Branding
In the Economic Mobility Report adopted by New Hanover County earlier this year, limitations to future economic growth included our lack of available sites and buildings and a critical need to develop and retain the younger workforce. Other key recommendations included creating a brand identity that clearly defines Wilmington, NC, for both employers and the highly skilled talent we hope to recruit to southeastern North Carolina. We hope you will join us on December 6 from 7:30 to 9:30 am for the Wilmington Chamber's Economic Summit on Talent Attraction & Community Branding at UNCW's Burney Center.
To kick off our event, Dr. Mouhcine Guettabi, Regional Economist at UNCW's Swain Center, will update our audience on Wilmington's performance compared to our "peer cities" as defined in previous Economic Scorecard publications.
Our expert panelists below will share more about the relationship between community branding on site selection and talent attraction.
- Christopher Chung, CEO, Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC)
- Patience Fairbrother VP, Brand and Digital Strategy, DCI
- Sarah White, Principal and VP of Site Selection, Global Location Strategies
Attendees can expect to take away critical information about national trends in talent development and retention, the future of workforce and education alignment, diversity and equity in talent retention, and how peer cities are connecting to remote workers and interns. We also plan to discuss the impact of a unified community brand on economic development and trends in site selection post-COVID.
